
Jose Tomas Esparza, Bahia de Banderas, Nayarit
Jose Tomas Esparza has been creating ceramics since he was
little in the workshop of his father. Originally, they lived in Tonalá which is
well known for ceramics. He has lived in Puerto Vallarta for 12 years. They are
happy to be able to do what they like and make a living from it. Jose´s sons
are the third generation of artisans, and he is very happy that they are
developing in the same field.

1995 - International Creche festival. International Nativity Contest in Bellingham Washington USA. First Place Award
1997 - Salon de Maestros de Arte Popular. Special award for the recovery of ancient techniques and designs.
2006 - First National Contest of Ceramics Tonallan. Barro bandera first place prize in Tonalá.
2007 - XXVI Grand Prize of Ceramics. National Ceramic Prize Competition in Tlaquepaque Jal. Presidential Award.
2008 - Great Prize of Popular Art in Mexico City. Presidential Award.
2008 - XV National Contest of Mexican Nativity Scenes in Mexico City, Mexico. First Place Award.
2015 - Tenth National Contest of Tonallan Ceramics. National Award.
2019 - XXIII Edition of the National Contest of Mexican Nativity Scenes, National Nativity Scene Award.
