Rosalia Bautista García is from the community of San Pablo Tijaltepec, in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca. She learned to embroider at the age of ten. Taught by her mother she studied the techniques of embroidery her area is known for. It took her almost four years before she could embroider a deer.

 She has taught embroidery to her younger sister and her daughter Mayra. Rosalia also gives workshops in Oaxaca City to those interested in learning about her age-old techniques. She holds these workshops with the objective that her embroidery and textile garments are understood and valued by buyers.
