Ignacio Elmar Hernández Flores y Sara Elizabeth Martínez Muñoz, San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas
Elizabeth Martinez Muñoz comes from a family who lived and worked in Taxco, Guerrero for many generations. She works with her husband Elmar whom she met in 1989 while she was studying.
Elmar Hernández Flores was born in Taxco from parents who worked in Taxco but came from a generation of artisans who lived in Iguala, Guerrero and relocated to Taxco in the 30s to join the silver boom.
He learned the trade from his father but also studied at the Escuela de Artes Plasticas in Taxco starting at age 15. He also worked in various workshops such as those of Rey Hernández, Marco Berthus and Filiberto Gómez
Elmar has been practicing his trade for over 25 years and works with his wife in San Cristóbal de las Casas where they moved some years ago. Maestro Elmar works with silver, amber, exotic woods, and semi-precious stones. He has won prizes in the Feria de la Plata 1995, 1997, FONART 2017 and Expo Ambar Chiapas 2014 2022
