Román Gutiérrez Ruiz is a third generation weaver, taught this craft by his family as their business. There are currently 5 people in their workshop -- spinning, carding, embroidering, and sewing.

Teotitlán del Valle is famous for its pedal loom rugs. Román has been teaching at the center of arts of San Agustin Etla for 12 years and about 6000 students have passed through his workshop.
