Maximino Bartolo Santiago Garcia San Felipe Tejelapa, Oaxaca
Maximino Santiago Garcia was born in 1953. He specializes in the fabrication of churches, markets, parks and other scenes in wood. He and his family use jacaranda, the special wood that is used by most of the carvers for their figures in this community.
There have been 3 generations of his family involved in this art, which he learned from his uncle, Martin Santiago Cruz. Six family members are part of their workshop. In his community there are 10 families who create this type of art as well.
