Fátima Fuentes Piña was born in the Zapotec village of San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca, into the renowned family workshop of Zeny Fuentes and Reyna. As a fourth-generation woodcarver and painter, she began decorating alebrijes at just seven years old, learning by working alongside her parents. Over the years, she has developed her own artistic style, distinguished by soft pastel tones, vibrant colors, and intricate patterns that celebrate harmony, joy, and the natural world while honoring her Zapotec heritage. 

Each of Fátima's hand-carved and hand-painted alebrijes is a one-of-a-kind creation inspired by the spiritual connection between nature, animals, and the traditions of the Zapotec people. Through her work, she continues her family's legacy while expressing her own creative vision, combining generations of craftsmanship with a fresh and contemporary artistic voice that has become a hallmark of her work.
