Efraín Barrera
Ayala, Jalisco
Efraín Barrera Ayala was born in 1972 in a town known for its ceramic tradition. He represents the third generation of his family dedicated to this craft and works closely alongside his wife.
From a very young age, he was drawn to clay, first as play and later as a way of life. An uncle gifted him his first potter’s wheel, and through careful observation of his father and grandfather, he came to understand the transformative nature of clay and the endless possibilities it offers. Over time, ceramics became both his livelihood and his passion.
Today, Efraín continues to seek innovation within his practice, driven by a deep commitment to creating new and expressive ceramic works.
