Sandra López Servín, Pátzcuaro, Michoacán

For Sandra López Servín, embroidery is a way of telling life’s stories. From Santa Cruz, Michoacán, her threads give shape to festive, ritual, and everyday scenes that form the collective memory of the Purépecha people. Part of a long lineage of women embroiderers, Sandra works collaboratively, transforming pedal-loom–woven cotton fabric into visual narratives rich in identity, history, and emotion.

Her work, recognized at both state and national levels, not only preserves an ancestral technique but sustains a cultural language passed down through generations. Each piece stands as a testament to community, continuity, and cultural pride.
