In San José de Gracia, Michoacán, where the smoke of wood-fired kilns is part of the everyday landscape, glazed pottery remains a living tradition. It is in this environment that Diana Alejos Blas was raised, inheriting a family legacy that has helped shape one of the region’s most iconic forms: the glazed ceramic piñas.

From an early age, she learned the craft from her parents, Emilio Alejos Madrigal and Juana Blas Ángeles, continuing a lineage that traces back to her grandmother, Eliza Madrigal Martínez—one of the early pioneers of this distinctive style. Today, Diana not only preserves this tradition but expands it, blending heritage, innovation, and a deep commitment to her community.
