Crescencio Morales Catarino, La Tlamacazapa Cooperativo, Tasco al Arcon, Guerrero

Crescencio Morales Catarino represents La Tlamacazapa Cooperative of Taxco el  Viejo, Guerrero, a community of skilled artisans dedicated to preserving the traditional  art of weaving with natural fibers. Working alongside his wife and fellow cooperative  members, they create beautifully handcrafted baskets, hats, purses, flowers, and  decorative pieces that reflect generations of knowledge and craftsmanship passed  down through their families.

Located in a region with little tourism, the cooperative depends on opportunities  beyond their community to share and sell their work. Crescencio proudly travels  throughout Mexico, including the Lake Chapala area of Jalisco, where he has become  a familiar face to many collectors and admirers of Mexican folk art. Through his  dedication, he helps sustain both the livelihood of the cooperative and the traditions  that continue to define their community.
