Christian Janet Córdova Vázquez, Atontonilco el Alto, Jalisco
Christian Janet Córdova Vázquez was born in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco. She holds a degree in Craft Design from the Centro Universitario de Tonalá at the University of Guadalajara. Her academic training and interest in Mexican folk art led her to explore a variety of artisanal techniques and to focus her practice on textile weaving and natural dye processes.
Throughout her career she has received significant recognition, including the National Prize “Grand Masters of the Artisan Heritage of Mexico” in 2023, first place in the Galardón Jalisco y Arte Indígena 2025, and awards in national competitions organized by FONART and the Secretaría de Cultura. She has participated in exhibitions, workshops, and lectures in cultural institutions and textile gatherings throughout Mexico. She currently works independently through her project Naranjos en Flor, producing textiles woven on pedal and backstrap looms and dyed with natural materials.
