Jewelry

Angela Margarita Chavez, Reyes,Tlaquepaque,Jalisco

Ángela Chávez Reyes is a goldsmith designer. Her journey in the jewelry world began when she decided to merge her skills as an architect with her love for the details and precision of handmade work. XIIKNAH, which means “place where wings are born”, is more than a handcrafted jewelry brand; it is an extension of her passion for creation and handwork.

The idea for XIIKNAH was born out of a personal need to create pieces that were not only aesthetically beautiful, but also carried deep meaning. She began in her home workshop, organizing tools and materials, and spending hours perfecting techniques and designs. I took a couple of diploma courses in jewelry. She remembers perfectly well that, in the first diploma course, she told her teacher that she wanted to manufacture the pieces, and the teacher replied: “Impossible, either you manufacture or you have a jewelry brand. The way to go is for you to be the designer and take your designs to be machined.” Obviously, she did not agree, so she enrolled in a second diploma course, where she learned the basic techniques of jewelry, the tools, processes, metals, and I fell in love with this art. She had her own jeweler's table made, and little by little began to acquire tools. That's how everything began to take shape until it became this handmade jewelry brand that today represents freedom, creativity and respect for manual processes.

Today, XIIKNAH is a space where tradition and innovation are combined. Ángela recognizes the value of master goldsmiths, whose techniques are immaculate, and she decided to add a differentiating stamp: the miyuki weave. This detail provides color and a special movement to the pieces, and above all, it is a way in which she honors
and integrates, with great respect, the Wixarica art. Each piece Ángela creates carries with it the essence of handmade, careful and dedicated work that connects with those who are looking for something more than an accessory.

Ángela´s  goal is that XIIKNAH continues to grow as a brand with social impact, always keeping alive the essence of the handmade work that inspires her. She firmly believes that this is the value of craftsmanship: somehow, it reminds you of your humanity, your origin, your sensitive side and your permanence. It connects you with that true part of you that is not afraid to take off its masks.
