Antonio Eurípides Pedro Gonzáles, San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca

Antonio was born in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, into a family of professional ceramists that have produced the famous black clay pottery for generations.

At a very early age, he began by making little figures from the animals in his yard - pigs, hens, turkeys, etc. His mother, aunts and uncles helped him finish his pieces and directed him in how to better his work.

Eventually, he developed his own unique style showing his creative abilities and imagination. He makes religious figures as well as Oaxacan dancers and people with traditional Oaxacan clothing, such as those that can be seen in events such as the Guelaguetza.

Antonio is passionate about his work and to pass on his knowledge he coordinates a cultural group in his community. He currently works in the Museo Estatal de Arte Popular Oaxaca with his brother, Carlomagno Pedro Martínez.
