Kena Bautista, Guadalajara, Jalisco

Kena Bautista began her art life at the age of 6 years, seeing her parents and grandparents making mainly paintings of yarn and jewelry that narrated the stories, customs, traditions, and dreams of the artist and cosmovision of the culture. As time passes she has tried to perfect this, leaving a piece of her life and knowledge in each piece, without losing the essence of the Wixarika symbols.

This work has been passed down from Kena´s grandparents, so she is the third generation. It is an activity that is part of her community as a livelihood. A work originates from the offerings that are given to their gods, although less decorative as they make them to sell.
