Fran García Vázquez lives in Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca and she is dedicated to the elaboration of decorative figures (polychrome clay) ever since she can remember, because her family is dedicated to this craft, and that is where her taste was born. She learned from her grandmother, Josefina Aguilar, and from my father, Demetrio Garcia Aguilar. She is part of the third artistic generation.

Fran´s work represents all the traditional activities of her community and state of Oaxaca. She has tried to express what she feels and the pride of being Oaxacan, representing in her pieces the beauty of her state.

She enjoys the whole process, from the extracting of the raw material (clay), and creating the piece, to finishing decorating it with multiple colors.

Fran is proud to show her style in her work, her way of interpreting what is lived, to give a message in each of her pieces, so that the person who acquires it feels happy and connected, to brighten up their life.

She loves to create because she tries to give a message. What she does is unique, it's her way of seeing what's going on around her. One hundred percent handmade, her way of expressing pieces that one won't see anywhere else because it's her unique style.

Being a craftswoman means a lot to Fran, because with it she is preventing the disappearance of a heritage that dates back to her ancestors, and now she expresses it in a more contemporary way.

·      2022 Second place in the first contest of Young Oaxacan Art "Jovenes de Exelencia 2022" held at the Museo de Arte Popular Oaxaca and sponsored by Citibanamex Cultural Promotion.

·      2022 Honorable mention in the sixth contest FOFA MEAPO with the theme "Finding Hope through Art".

·      2023 Second place in the XXIII STATE AWARD OF POPULAR ART "BENITO JUÁREZ" by the Institute, promotion and protection of the Crafts of the state of Oaxaca.
