In Mata Ortiz, ceramics is more than a craft—it is a recovered legacy shaped through memory and dedication. Within this context, José Luis Loya Jáquez has devoted his life to continuing the Paquimé tradition, learning from an early age through the influence of his family and master artisan Juan Quezada.

Each of his pieces reflects a dialogue between past and present, where form, pattern, and process echo an ancient history reinterpreted through contemporary practice. His work not only preserves a technique, but also contributes to a collective movement that has brought the ceramics of Mata Ortiz to recognition both within Mexico and beyond.
