Originally from Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca, Fran Garcia Vasquez represents the third generation of a renowned family of ceramic artists dedicated to the creation of polychrome clay figures. From an early age she learned the craft from her grandmother, master potter Josefina Aguilar, and from her father Demetrio García Aguilar, developing a deep connection to clay and to the artistic traditions of her community.

Fran’s work portrays scenes from everyday life, celebrations, and cultural traditions of Oaxaca. Through vibrant colors and expressive forms, she conveys the pride she feels in her heritage. She enjoys every stage of the creative process—from preparing the clay to the final decoration of each piece—and seeks to share messages of identity, joy, and reflection through her work. Each figure reflects her personal interpretation of the world around her while continuing a tradition that has been passed down through generations.

·      2022 Honorable mention in the sixth contest FOFA MEAPO with the theme "Finding Hope through Art".

·      2023 Second place in the XXIII STATE AWARD OF POPULAR ART "BENITO JUÁREZ" by the Institute, promotion and protection of the Crafts of the state of Oaxaca.
