The SUGMAR collective brings together several generations of a family from San Juan Guichicovi, Oaxaca, who keep alive the tradition of chain-stitch embroidery and the making of huipiles. Each member contributes their own knowledge and specialty, creating pieces that combine inherited techniques with new textile proposals. 

Through their collaborative work, Sugmar seeks to preserve the knowledge passed down from their mothers and grandmothers while also opening new paths for sharing their art. In addition to maintaining these traditions, the collective has developed original designs such as Teekentyiik, Huipil Virginia, Huipil Caminos del Sol, Kaftan, and Huipil Osmayra, among others. Their pieces reflect the continuity of a family tradition that continues to grow and adapt with new generations.
